Challenges: Working on the recognition of prior learning
The main challenges for adult education continue to be the recognition of prior learning, the improvement of basic skills among the population and increasing the participation in adult learning and education in general.
The COVID-19 pandemic put many people in disadvantaged positions and left others unemployed. This heightened the importance of adult learning, while demonstrating how underfunded the sector is. The work of the adult education sector was also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The work programs changed, events were cancelled, there was a cut in financing and the learning provision could be only partially moved online.
For the next year, EAEA’s member will focus their efforts on E-learning, civic education, parenting education and providing support to adult learning providers to enable them to conduct distance learning. The organization hopes that adult education will be included in the national education budget in the future.
